On November 25, 2022, all young and old night owls were finally able to look over the shoulders of the numerous Jena scientists and ask their questions about research. After a three-year break due to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, a Long Night of Science was finally able to take place again in Jena.
From 6 p.m. to midnight, numerous partners, such as the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, the Ernst Abbe University Jena, the Beutenberg Campus Jena e. V., the Jena University Hospital and the research-related Jena commercial companies - above all Carl Zeiss in Jena, Jenoptik AG and Schott in Jena - invite you to almost countless exciting and varied program items. The visitors expected experiments, lectures, presentations, hands-on activities and guided tours and definitely took everyone with them into the multifaceted world of science and the latest inventions and discoveries "Made in Jena".
The SmartAge team from Jena also presented the entire project and the consortium as well as the three ESR sub-projects based at the University Hospital Jena to numerous interested parties. We were very surprised at the level of interest in our research topic. Our two ESRs Tannaz and Simon in particular had to report almost continuously on their projects. The event itself had a total of around 10,000 visitors and we can safely assume that a quarter of them also visited the offers of the University Hospital and were able to get to know us (better) as a Jena scientific institution.
