Die Sektion Diabetologie der Klinik für Kinder- und Jugendmedizin beteiligt sich aktiv an der DPV-Initiative (Diabetes Patienten Verlaufsdokumentation) zur Qualitätssicherung und bei der gemeinsamen Auswertung der Daten im Rahmen der Versorgungsforschung.
Der Schwerpunkt der bei uns durchgeführten Auswertungen liegt bei der Früherkennung von Folgeerkrankungen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen mit Typ 1 Diabetes, insbesondere der Blutdruckregulation und der Auswirkung einer gestörten Blutdruckregulation auf die Entstehung mikro- und makroangiopathischer Komplikationen. Darüber hinaus arbeiten wir aktiv mit an der Erstellung der Leitlinien Kinderdiabetologie der Arbeitsgemeinschaft Pädiatrische Diabetologie/Deutsche Diabetesgesellschaft.
