The task of the working group includes the maintenance of the biobank as well as the establishment, implementation, validation and reporting of the clinic's hemato-oncological molecular diagnostics. A particular focus is on the molecular monitoring of chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), where we act as the German reference laboratory in numerous national (e.g. FASCINATION, DasaHIT, TIGER study) and international clinical studies (e.g. BYOND). For CML monitoring, we rely on highly precise methods such as quantitative PCR (qPCR) and digital PCR (dPCR) in order to be able to reliably detect even the smallest amounts of residual disease. Our range of services also includes the analysis and monitoring of atypical transcripts. In addition, molecular genetic methods such as pyrosequencing and next-generation sequencing are used to detect mutations in myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic diseases.
