The international Jena School of Molecular Medicine (JSMM) offers an interdisciplinary graduate program in an attractive and inspiring research environment with a unique combination of expertise in molecular and cellular biology, biophotonics, molecular medicine and clinical research. The JSMM provides a platform for young life scientists and medical students who work towards a doctoral degree in different fields of molecular and experimental medicine.
The JSMM comprises six graduate programs: the graduate program Experimental Medicine organized by the Interdisciplinary Center of Clinical Research (IZKF) of the Jena University Hospital, the research training group of the Center for Sepsis Control & Care (CSCC-RTG), the DFG research training groups RTG 2155 ProMoAge and RTG 1715Adaptive Stress Responses, the Leibniz Graduate School on Ageing and Age-Related Diseases (LGSA) of the Leibniz Institute on Ageing /Fritz Lipmann Institute (FLI) and the Jena School for Ageing Medicine (JSAM) funded by the Else Kröner Foundation.
Currently, 171 doctoral students from 27 countries are enrolled. The JSMM programs are mainly held in English and are planned for the entire period of the doctoral work. The successful completion of the program is approved by a graduate school certificate.
The JSMM is a member of the Jena Graduate Academy (JGA). The participating research groups belong to the Faculty of Medical Sciences/Jena University Hospital, to the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (FSU), to the interfaculty Center for Molecular Biomedicine (CMB), to the Leibniz Institute on Aging/FLI and to the Leibniz Institute for Natural Product Research and Infection Biology - Hans-Knoell-Institute (HKI).
