Your child at the UKJ
Especially for children and their families, a stay in hospital is a break in their everyday lives. That is why it is our aim to ensure that your child feels safe and secure in our hospital. We can assure you that your child will be cared for by experienced, specially trained doctors, nurses and carers and accompanied by teachers and educators. The paediatric surgery department at the UKJ is a highly specialized clinic with experienced surgeons who are specially trained in dealing with small and very small patients. It goes without saying that the facilities here are also child-friendly. This also applies to the Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, which also has a day clinic.
Services offered by the children's clinic
In the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, all patients - from premature babies to teenagers - find conditions specially tailored to their needs. The clinic clown Flotti Lotti regularly visits the young patients here and provides a fun distraction from the daily routine on the ward. Our educators and volunteers are happy to play, do handicrafts and read with your child on request. For longer stays, hospital teachers give lessons to the young patients.
Rooming-in
As parents, you are our most important partners because nobody knows your child as well as you do. If your child's state of health allows, you can take care of your child yourself for all non-medical measures if you wish. If you do not want to leave your son or daughter alone during the inpatient stay, we offer rooming-in. You will be admitted as an accompanying person and will be accommodated in your child's room so that you can stay close to them at all times. You can also use the service apartments for patients, relatives and guests of the UK (German)J.
The Kinderhilfestiftung Jena, headed by Prof. Dr. Hans Proquitté, Head of the Neonatology Section of the UKJ Children's Hospital, is committed to helping sick children and young people. It directly addresses needy families of sick children, but also supports medical facilities with modern equipment and good environmental conditions for the young patients and their parents.
With the help of numerous donations, more than 500 projects have already been implemented in recent years.
