Hariet Kirschner holds a doctorate in sociology and has been working as a research assistant at the Institute of General Medicine at the UKJ since May 2023. Her research focuses on the sociology of knowledge and professions as well as biographical research. In her doctoral thesis entitled “The Construction of Life Story Narratives in Life Review Interviews and Narrative Interviews,” she conducted research comparing the construction of autobiographical narratives from a psychotherapeutic and social science perspective. She has published on the professional self-understanding and worldviews of psychotherapists in the GDR, as well as on the experiences of general practitioners in East Germany during the transformation around 1989/90. She is also involved in projects at the IfA using qualitative health services research methods to study adherence to and acceptance of telemedicine applications in primary care (DISTANCE project; REMIT). In addition, she supports the team in the field of qualitative methods and in the organization of the Center for Health Services Research.
