Continuing Medical EducationThe Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine offers seminars for GPs and future GPs covering the broad spectrum of General Practice.
Also included are workshops delivering didactic skills for teaching GPs.

Medical SchoolThe Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine provides medical students with a comprehensive understanding of primary care in Germany. Our aim is to not only transfer knowledge and skills but also enthusiasm about a GP career.
Practical Training
In their 4th year of medical school each student is sent to one of 240 teaching GPs in Thuringia for two weeks to develop practical skills and to study the characteristics of primary care.
Lecture Series
Lecture series are taking place in the 3rd and 5th year of medical training and cover frequent medical problems as well as organizational aspects of primary care. Lecturers are both staff members of the Institute of General Practice and Family Medicine and practicing GPs.
Practical Year
The 6th and last year of medical school is dedicated to the enhancement of practical skills. Students can choose to be trained in one of the teaching practices for four months.

Specialist Training in General MedicineIn January 2018 the Centre for Competence in Primary Care started its activities. It accompanies the GP-specialist training with a comprehensive course and mentoring program.
